Microsoft Windows 7

Windows 7 has been available for download to Partners and Developers since February and is scheduled for public release on 22nd October.

Windows Vista was very attractive and added a glossy feel to your desktop, although the interface felt rather bloated and slow.
Vista as named after the noun for an extensive view, very quickly displayed a narrow view of the expectations of their customers.  A large number of businesses tested Vista only to return to the “safe pair of hands” that was XP.  When Windows Vista was released a large number of manufacturers stopped supplying XP, but now all offer the ability to roll back the operating system to XP.  This was not what Microsoft intended for their latest reinvention of the wheel and will be hoping for a better public reception with Windows 7.

Windows 7 will look to address the compatibility issues that customers had with Vista, by using a new XP compatibility mode.  This is great news for businesses that are dependent on third party software, but have no control of development.  The big question though is - Will it work?

A Windows 7 review will be available soon.
