Marshall agrees to buy £35m turnover Francis Group

Tuesday, 16 February 2010

Marshall Motor Group has agreed to buy Francis Group, a privately owned business with a Seat, Suzuki and Two Honda dealerships in Leicestershire.

The £35m turnover business has been run by Robin Francis for the last seventeen years.

The deal would bring Marshall's total number of Honda sites to six plus a Honda bike franchise, building on the acquisition a year ago of the de Vries businesses in Yorkshire.

Marshall chief executive Daksh Gupta said: "This is a great acquisition for Marshall and we look forward to welcoming and working with our new colleagues from the Francis Group.

"The Francis Group is an excellent business and we share many core values, including a passion for delivering outstanding service to our customers."

Marshall has added 12 businesses in the last 12 months. Earlier this month it opened a new Volvo dealership in Nottingham, its fourth Volvo business.

It already represented Volvo in Cambridge, Peterborough and Grantham.

Employees are currently being consulted and the completion date is expected to be 24 February.

Under Tupe, all of the 85 Francis Group employees will be transferring to Marshall.
